Unfortunately, Chako is having the threads of our adoptable dogs - TopicsExpress

Unfortunately, Chako is having the threads of our adoptable dogs hijacked, fundraiser threads hijacked, etc. by a former foster, Vanessa Kawlinoski, who is grieving the loss of a dog we had to euthanize almost three ago. His name is Butters. Since 1996, Chako has euthanized four dogs, and all for aggression to humans. We are very clear with our fosters that we euthanize dogs that show inappropriate aggression to humans, and that is the reason we must evaluate every dog before taking a dog into our program. We dont like to have to euthanize dogs, but we cannot place dogs we believe are dangerous into the community. We may never know the lives we affect in the future by acting responsibly in the present, but we hope never to know the lives we irreparably harm by not acting responsibly. All our fosters are told up front that we euthanize dogs for human aggression, and that is the only reason we euthanize dogs. They all sign a contract, as well, that explains that. It is also in every adoption contract. One serious Pit Bull bite can very easily lead to breed bans and the deaths of thousands of innocent Pit Bulls--including yours and mine. Vanessa is grieving, so weve tried to give her some space. It has been almost three years. She did not, at the time, express the concerns she is expressing now, and unfortunately, three years later is too late for us to have this dialogue about whether the decision to euthanize Butters was the right one. The time to speak up was then. Vanessa has been hijacking the threads of our adoptable dogs. We had to block and remove them as they became excessive, and then it appears she created a page called Speak up for Truth and began once again spamming our threads. For example, on one fundraiser, it showed up on just about every comment. She has posted repeatedly on our adoptable dog threads, multiple times on one thread. She at one point had made cute adopt me bandanas for our adoptable dogs. She recently asked us to destroy them, and we honored her wishes by getting back all the ones we could and getting rid of them. That is why you saw a post from us a little while ago asking for new ones for our adoptable dogs. We are sorry to have to tarnish Butters memory this way, but unfortunately due to the excessive posting from Vanessa and her repeated hijacking of threads of our adoptable dogs that have nothing to with Butters, were making this statement. We do not agree to set dangerous dogs into the community. The volunteer who was bitten by Butters has suffered a great deal of emotional pain as a result, but she made the right decision in reporting the incident to us and we reported the incident to the ACO who initially reached out to us about Butters. She agreed with our decision. We hope this is the end of the matter, but if not, please dont let the grief of one former foster interfere with helping our adoptable dogs find homes. As you know, thats what is most important. Whether someone agrees or disagrees with all of our decisions, euthanizing four dogs in over fifteen years and saving hundreds is something we wont ever apologize for. These are hard decisions, but they have to be made in rescue. Thank you. RIP Butters. May your former foster mommy let you and help us all to remember the good times you had. Were happy you spent your last few months outside of a shelter, living life and knowing love. You almost didnt get that chance.
