Unfortunately, our sport suffered another fatality on April 29 as a result of a free fall collision during a tracking dive. The deceased apparently was rendered unconsious as a result of the collision and died upon ground impact. This skydiver had no AAD. Friends, there is no rational basis not to have an AAD and to turn it on. It is a safety device that can and has saved many lives in our sport. It is time for DZOs and USPA to require their mandatory use. I am going to propose a BSR requiring their mandatory use to the USPA Board. This is two fatalities in 2014 that likely would not have been so if the skydiver had an AAD.
