Unfortunately, the government shut down has affected the Smithsonian Institution. But you can still access all Smithsonian websites to learn more about folklife and cultural heritage! This month is Gullah/Geechee Heritage Month. The Gullah/ Geechee are people of African and indigenous American descent whose nation is located along the coast of the southeastern U.S. Their language and traditions are called Geechee.
