Unfortunately this blitzkrieg of color on Holi shall never be able to tuck the monochromatic palette of memories away. Memories that chafe you, churn you and leave you all shattered, reminiscing those tiny packets of jubilation and filling those balloons with colors of hope. Some colors have faded with time, some have dried up, leaving immutable scars. Remember how you used to run your perfumed fingers through my hair. Do you remember those gleaming eyes sneaking out of the wall and that contagious smile? Do you remember unleashing that stream of colored water innocuously through that dinky pump(pichkari) and not quitting until I ran for cover? Do you remember looking at the mirror together and making faces at each other? Do you remember walking down the streets to that nearby shop and arguing over our favourite soft drink brand? Do you? Years later, now, when I see colors on a platter, they look somehow familiar. It carries the same fragrance and the same texture. Perhaps, time had preserved a pinch of that pink color, a stint of that blue , handful of red and crimson since long, only to remind that no matter how boisterous it may look like, a part of you shall always crave for colors and leave you desponded.
