Unpopular opinion time: Parading the title of ally is begging for validation. True acts of solidarity are in action, such as speaking up when privileged folks try to make movements about them and getting out there (to the barricades!) if you can. An act of solidarity is also knowing when to be silent, like not co-opting a movement to prove how anti-racist(/whatever) you are. Screaming ally drowns out the voices of groups that are already ignored/devalued by society. Move back, be quiet for a change. Yeah, were fighting for similar things but there are many many more ways to show solidarity that will build strength across communities, rather than diminish movements. Claiming ally isnt one of them.
