Upcoming workshop on April 4th from 8-10PM that might be interested for everyone via Trade School Toronto: Nurturing Great Volunteer Experiences - no money required - its all done for barter. Sign up at the link - details including barter items wanted in exchange for the class are below: -- Do you work with volunteers? Do you volunteer yourself? Have you ever wondered if there was anything you could do to make this a better experience for everyone? Let’s discuss creating welcoming volunteer environments that are sustainable. We’ll cover the basics of creating or growing a successful volunteer program, from finding willing volunteers, to training and supporting them, and appreciating and keeping them. Then we’ll collaborate to envision a dream volunteer experience. This class can also help you learn the secrets that will help you become a super-star volunteer. Bring your own stories of volunteering or working with volunteers. Bring one of the following: used bike (my vintage ladies Raleigh 3 speed was stolen – boo – I’m looking for something similar) (limit of 1 person/bike!) 5 good job leads/contacts A class (yoga, dance, poi, fitness, gluten free cooking, sailing… A favorite second-hand novel A treatment (reiki, acupuncture, massage… An adventure (zip lining, tickets/guest list to a band/play/movie/circus I’ve never heard of, a treasure map of your favorite Toronto (or International) hidden haunts Dry rice or gluten-free pasta (medium bag) Fresh spring flowers (limit of 1 person) Help with self-employed tax filing! (limit of 1 person) Homegrown/harvested/local food (honey, eggs, veggies, cheese, wine, etc.) Homemade beauty product (lavender-free) Homemade food (gluten & green pepper free please, frozen or not-so-perishable) Either healthy or so deliciously lovely that I won’t care J Snacks for the class (with ingredients list if necessary for allergies) (limit of 5 people) Take notes & distribute to class via email (limit of 1 person) TTC tokens About the teacher, Amy Rouillard became an accidental Volunteer Manager almost a decade ago and has worked with volunteers at a number of film festivals in Toronto and around North America. She’s passionate about the importance of strong volunteer programs and a fierce advocate for volunteers and interns. She’s currently looking to transition into year-round long-term work with socially conscious organizations
