Updates on Logan from the weekend: Saturday after rounds... Doctor says Logan has a form of encephalitis (irritation of the brain). It is either caused by the Mycroplasma or Rino virus...no indication there is anything else. MRI looks good, brain pressure is good. Few white blood cells in spinal fluid...to be expected. Neurologist studied the EEG and Logan has been seizure free since he was sedated. The plan is to keep him like he is and watch watch the EEG for another 24 hours. This gives antibiotics time to work, Rino virus time to run its course, and brain time to settle and reboot (like an iPhone or computer...doctors words). If all goes well...they will make a plan and slowly reduce the phenobarbital and watch EEG. If seizures come back, he will need more time to fight and they will keep him sedated ...everyone is different hard to say. Doctor is very positive and happy how he is doing. Number of labs came back for rare stuff...all negative! Newest update...Sunday AM after rounds... The neurologist can tell from the EEG that Logan has 2small seizures at 8am. He also ran a low grade fever all night. These are both signs that he is still fighting a virus. That being said, they are going to keep him sedated for another 24 hours, do another MRI, and do an IVIG (an IV of protein extract from white blood cells from 1000 donors). We are ready to wake Logan up, but we have to listen to Logans body...he needs more time to rest and fight! Please keep praying!
