VERY GOOD NEWS ON RUAMBWA-MAUMAU ROAD.. Yes, tarmack is coming to Maumau/Musoma Beach! Am very happy to announce that we have succeeded in our efforts to have our crucial Ruambwa-Maumau-Musoma Beach road upgraded to bitumen standard. Bids for the works were opened three days ago by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA), and evaluation is expected to take a fortnight. Should everything proceed as scheduled, we expect the contractor on site in February/ March. In the meantime, we have secured Kshs 7 million from KENHA to do routine maintenance on the road as we await the major works to commence. This coming shortly before the Sigiri Bridge contractor is unveiled by KERRA is without a doubt some great news in this New Year! PS: Manyasi-Ruambwa-Nambengele-Port Victoria- Bukoma Beach road: we have formally lodged a complaint with the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) over GOGNI Rajopes inept handling of this key road network. We have gathered that GOGNI apparently under-quoted for this tender, and are now experiencing serious constraints in project execution. After consulting KERRA, it has been agreed that: 1. A high level meeting between KERRA DG Eng. Karanja, Infrastructure PS Eng. Mosonik, Gogni MD Eng. Juma and myself will be held within a fortnight to holistically consider the challenges facing this project and determine the best course of action. Among the options are contract sum variation or terminating and re-tendering. . 2. Meanwhile, Gogni will scale up their current minimal activities that have focused on drainage. Other works should commence in a weeks time. We urge calm and patience as we make every effort to have all our mega projects on track. Whatever the challenges (a normality in life), let us admit that our ambitious infrastructure agenda is unprecedented; it stands to transform our land big time, and is bound to place us way ahead of our neighbours and many other parts of rural Kenya. #BudalangiRising..
