VOTE GERRY WESTRY PRESIDENT OF THE BPA Greetings! As the former President of the Black Police Association of Greater Dallas, I would like to thank the membership for supporting me and Black Police Association Executive Board. I would like the Black Police Association members to join in my vision to promote fairness and equity for all Dallas Police Department and Dallas Independent School District employees. It is my belief that the Black Police Association promotes and advocates the best interest for African American and other minority employees on the Department. We cannot achieve our full potential, in the battle to promote fairness and equity for our members, without the full support of our membership. Every minority group of employees on this Department has an organization representing their interest. We as African American employees will continue to be left out of the main stream unless we fully recognize the value of UNITY. There can be no progress without unity. There will be no full measure of success without sacrifice. While the subject of racial insensitivity continues to be the primary barrier affecting the progress of African American employees on this Department, it is not the only issue confronting us at this time. THE BPA MEMBERSHIP must work together to expose the obvious double standards in the areas of discipline, recruitment, promotions, selections to the coveted positions and specialized units. These are just a few of the areas in which African American employees have experienced obvious double standards on this Department. We must not forget about the other areas less likely to be detected because of the way they are wonderfully crafted behind the scene and sometimes in plain sight. In our effort to revitalize the Black Police Association, I have embarked on an ambitious program to provide training and support to our members in areas of career advancement, interview techniques and legal support. I am committed to doing everything in my collective power to protect the rights of our members from discrimination, racism, and other acts that violate our rights as employees. To be successful in this endeavor, I need YOU to be a part of my winning team. In closing, I would like the members of the Black Police Association of Greater Dallas to come out and vote for GERRY WESTRY – President of the BLACK POLICE ASSOCIATION on November 14, 15 and 16 2013.
