Veg Voyages Vegan Adventure Tours Busy day! We biked out into the rural village where we learned how rice is grown and processed. We visited a public grammar school and then had a lunch of various rices in the hone of the farm landowner! Later a cooking lesson on how to cook dosas! Our early evening temple visit was AMAZING!!! If I remember correctly, this is a 6th century Chola (not that kind of chola!) Empire temple that was the Hindu equivalent of the Vatican! Absolutely immense at 10 hectares!!! I wish I was allowed to take pictures inside. The temple has been in continuous since it was built and we arrived for the most important evening ceremony. It was absolutely swamped with adherents! The immense gravity of its history, the ancient ceremony and the shear presence of the the heavy stone interior TRANSPORTED me back in time! The evening entertainment? Hmmm... How do I describe? I suppose I have to remember that 220 million Indians still have no tv or radio... So it was kinda a low-tent circus act by a small Indian Richard Simmons. When I could get past the creepiness, it wasnt half-bad.
