Very informative commentary. As an Indigenous person I will not vote in any elections of Canada now or in the future. My greatest voice and work must be invested in my own canoe-community, nation and confederacy, that is where my input can make the greatest difference, that is where my voice counts most. However, it still interests me to know what is going on with the politics of my neighbors, the people in the vessel next door. This party Quebec Solidaire does seem to be an interesting alternative to the mainstream two party race IF what they claim is in fact what they do. Neither the PQ nor the Liberals offer very much support or come through with any of their promises on the real issues which affect many people today, like health, our earth, morality and or social justice. Most are plagued with greed $ and power mongering. Interesting that this alternative party does offer to share the lands with Indigenous Nations. It would be very nice to live harmoniously with our neighbors. It seems like a fantasy to think there could be a government elected to power who would respect Indigenous people and our inherent rights. Every reality begins as a dream and or a vision of hope. I never want to be Canadian, nor vote in their elections, but it would be nice to be a neighbor and live respectfully beside each other. The critical point being we belong together in our canoe and Canadians belong together in their vessel beside each other not entwined. Also hoping that the rights of all citizens of all nations be respected, assimilation and oppression of minorities as it appears in this proposed charter is never ok.
