Victoria Forecast Forecast for the rest of Monday Mostly fine although isolated showers and thunderstorms possible about southern and mountain districts. Partly cloudy with mainly light winds. Tuesday 11 March Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the west during the morning and extending to most areas in the afternoon. A warm to hot and generally cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds. A cooler fresh southwesterly change entering the southwest in the early afternoon then extending to central areas and the northwest late afternoon and moving into the east at night. A band of rain to follow the cool change across southern areas. Fire Danger - High to Very High grading to Severe in the northwest. Weather Situation A large high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will move slowly eastwards across New Zealand on Tuesday and Wednesday. A weak low pressure trough over eastern Victoria will dissipate tonight. A second trough will reach western Victoria about midday Tuesday ahead of an approaching cold front. The trough will push eastwards across central districts late in the afternoon and will move into the east overnight but not reach the northeast until about midday Wednesday. The cold front will push across southern districts a few hours behind the trough. A new high pressure system will form over Bight waters on Wednesday and will push across Bass Strait on Thursday to link with the first high pressure system over New Zealand by Friday.
