Victoria Martinwrites: Another family where mother and baby separated: Iranian mother separated from premature newborn. This Mother had a premature rupture of the membranes while interned on Nauru and forced to live in a tent. She faced a long flight terrifying flight in premature labor to Brisbane and has delivered a little boy born at 32 weeks and weighing a mere 1.83 kg. Hossin is tube fed and only sees Mom for an hour or so every morning. She is removed from Hospital to spend the rest of her time interned in BITA. The rest of the family, Dad and 2 siblings, have now been brought to the mainland to join her and also have their time with the new bub restricted. This mother, like so many others has been disgracefully treated by this government. Mater hospital allows Mothers unrestricted access to their new babies. RRAN calls upon the government to immediately allow this new mother sufficient and unrestricted bonding time with her sick premature baby.
