Village Level Entrepreneurs staged protest demonstration Jammu,: Hundreds of Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs)/CSC operators today held a massive protest demonstration at Press Club Jammu under the banner of J&K CSC Association against the State government for not listening to the hues and cries of VLEs/CSC operators since long for implementing supposed revenue generating G2C and B2C services. They were holding banners and placards displaying “Implement e-governance services”, “Provide gap Support”, “Provide electricity Bill collection service at the CSCs etc. Speaking on the occasion, Pushvinder Singh, one of the VLEs form Shama Chak said that CSC’s (Common Service Centre/Khidmat Centres) under National E-Governance Project were rolled out in the state of J&K in 2009. He said that almost one thousand highly qualified youth across JK were taken into this project through deceiving advertisements promising revenue generating G2C and B2C services. Loans were raised by J&K Bank (SCA) for site (Centre) development including infrastructure upto the tune of Rs 2.00 Lakh Approx but till date no major revenue generating service has been provided by Govt of J&K to these centres. Even after making hundreds of representations and deliberations, Govt has failed to make these centres viable thus forcing Khidmat Centre (CSC) operators to suffer along with their families. Vikas Gargotra, VLE from Marh said that hundreds of review meetings were taken by Information Technology Department (SDA), mother of the project but of no use. Even orders from J&K Chief Minister, where he ordered revenue support worth Rs. 7500 per month wide Government order number 46 ITD of 2011 dated 14-12-2011 vaporized without implementation at the ground level. Every exercise from Govt’s end turned futile. Minutes were circulated from time to time but the execution and implementation part remained a total failure. S. Jasmeet Singh, VLE from Kathua said that this is a Centrally Sponsored Project on e-governance and is aimed to eradicate the nuisance of corruption at gross root level along with providing self employment to thousands of un-employed youth of J&K. Rakesh Rana, VLE from Baribrahmana, said that all the VLE’s are running into business losses and mental trauma of repayment of loan amount which was raised under the scheme for each VLE but from last four years VLEs are forced to come on roads due to official apathy. Puneet Lakhnotra, VLE from Bantalab, told that VLE’s have decided to launch state wide peaceful protests against administration till genuine demands are not heeded and justice done with this auspicious Centrally Sponsored project.
