Virginia - Election day. This morning I was getting signs up and a table set at a polling place- then I took the time to go and to vote. In the voting booth, I stared at my choices. I find it such a special moment, to stand there, to take a minute to pray, and to remember this gift that has been given to all of us as citizens in the US of A. When I got back home I read Galatians 1:10. Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ As happens when I read the Bible, a verse kind of jumps out at me as this one did today. It reminds me that in the midst of my duties in this life, that there is one who I should seek to please above all others. Our first calling is to seek the approval of God - to please Him. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, friends out there, and those who may or may not know God, and my fellow citizens in this great country of ours, this simple word from scripture says a mouthful. Pray for me that I may keep it in mind as I seek to serve others in the days and years ahead. And no matter whether you are happy or sad with the results of tonights election in Virginia, New Jersey, or some other place- no matter - there is one whose approval matters more than any earthly prince or princess. Let us be mindful of Him, the King of Kings and ruler of all.
