Virginia (Amara) Melito passed away peacefully on March 20, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice after a long illness. She was 82. Virginia was born and raised in Boston’s West End, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Elizabeth (Burke) Amara. A Medford resident for much of her life, she lived the last 10 years in Melrose. Virginia enjoyed a long career in management with Johnny’s Foodmaster working primarily in the Medford and Charlestown locations. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all her family and friends. The beloved wife of the late Domenic Melito, Virginia was a loving mother to Patricia McCabe of Salem and her late husband Robert, Anna Holland of Melrose, Domenic Melito of Melrose and Michael Melito and his wife Paula of Wakefield. She was a loving grandmother to Karen, Tricia, Lisa, Michael, Samuel, Matthew, Carlie, Mikey, Mark, Sean and a loving great-grandmother to Krysta, Jacob, Aiden, Camden, David, Shea, Kellan, Jacqueline, Regina and Leah. She was a dear sister to the late James Amara. Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday March 25th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours Monday 4 – 8 PM.
