WATER DONATIONS TO BE DELIVERED TO THOSE IN NEED (East Porterville, CA) - After a successful water collection drive held this past weekend, The Lunch Box Diner and The Porterville Rescue Mission are ready to deliver bottles, gallons and jugs of clean drinking water to those affected by this historical drought. Plans are underway to begin a door to door canvassing of neighborhoods located in East Porterville. “The Hispanic community in this area are among those in dire need of help, and sadly, many do not know where to turn to for help. We were so excited when Simo and Sabrina, from The Lunch Box Diner, asked us to partner with them for this project. Not only will we be able to assist those on the eastside, but in other areas affected. ” said Esther Cardenas, the Assistant Director of The Porterville Rescue Mission. Beginning later this week, a team of volunteers and staff from both The Porterville Rescue Mission and The Lunch Box Diner, will come together to distribute the donations of water that ‘poured’ in over the weekend - some from as far away from Bakersfield! “We had a lot of fun over the three day donation drive. E gave away a lot of free ice cream and snow cones to all of the wonderful people who donated. We are looking forward to making this an ongoing drive. Anyone can stop by the diner, located at the corner of Olive and Westwood, and make their donations and we will help The Rescue Mission get it to those in need.” explained Simitro ‘Simo’ Gomez, owner of The Lunch Box Diner.
