WE SHALL NOT GIVE UP IN BORNO Let me begin this piece with a qoute from Hafsat Abiola Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are. -- Hafsat Abiola Borno is our dear state and no one can change that, the calamity that befall us is certainly from Allah and as muslims, we have to accept it as a trial from Allah, and certainly he will see us through, no matter what insha Allah. We have passed through similar problems in our history as people and this one willl not be an exception insha Allah. All we need now is to put our heads together and face this challenges together as brothers, sisters, sons and daughters of Borno. Let us put our political differences aside, because nobody will come from another place to develop our state for us, it is we who can do it. We as citizens have stakes in the development of Borno state. We should not allow our personal interest or ambition be above the interest of our dear state. We should not sale our freedom and prosperity for whatever gain, in whatever situation or position we found ourselves, we should always put Borno first. Those who are handling contracts within the state should know that history will always judge them for whatever or however they executes such projects. If the state govt give you contract, you should know that beside the monetary gain that you will make, you are also developing your own state, and if you do shoddy job, you should know that you are destroying your own state with your own and even your grand and grate grand children will not forgive you for such unpatriotic act. Those who are holding political offices, should fear Allah, they should know that they are there not because they are the best, but is just that Allah has chosen them. Therefore, they should use their position to develop and put smiles on the faces of their people and most especially the down trodden members of the society. For those who normally disappear after election, and appear shortly before another election, they should know that this time around we are ready for them, because everybody seeking election in Borno must tell the people what has been his or her contributions to the state in the past. I call on all of us to give our support to the state government by way of suggestions, on how best the govt can develop our state, irrespective of our political differences. Those close to the governor who are in the habit of blocking other people from seeing the governor or who normally condemn suggestions made by other people outside the govt even if it is the best way out, should please in the interest of our dear state desist from such unpatriotic act. They should know that the governor is the leader of the entire state not just those in govt. Collectively in unity we can take Borno to the next level, if each and every citizen contribute his quarter with prayers, dedication and sacrifice indeed we can. No sacrifice is too much for ones fatherland. We have all it takes to be among the best, all we need is unity commitment and sacrifice. Together, We shall surely build a land where peace, prosperity and freedom will reign forever INSHA ALLAH.
