WEATHER BULLETIN No. 9 Tropical Cyclone Alert: Tropical Storm “#EmongPH” Issued at 05:00 AM, 20 June 2013 Tropical Storm “#EmongPH” has maintained its strength as it moves away from the country and is now out of the Phil. Area of Responsibility (PAR). Location of eye/center: At 04:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “EMONG” was estimated based on all available data at 570 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (25.5°N, 124.8°E). Strength: Maximum winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph Movement: Forecast to move North at 22 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “#EmongPH” is expected to be at 770 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes outside of the Phil. Area of Responsibility this afternoon. • Estimated rainfall amount within the 600 km diameter of the Tropical Storm is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy). • Tropical Storm “EMONG” is not expected to make landfall to any part of the country. However, it will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas and light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of the country. • Fishermen specially those using small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Northern and Eastern Seaboards of Luzon and Western Seaboard of Southern Luzon due to big waves generated by Tropical Storm “EMONG. • Meanwhile, The Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 450 km West of Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas (14.5°N, 116.5°E) • With this development this is the final bulletin on this weather disturbance.
