WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG? - Reflections on Alive Inside I saw - TopicsExpress

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG? - Reflections on Alive Inside I saw a film called Alive Inside two days ago that captures the very essence of WHY I have chosen the path im on and that affirmed my deep reverence for music. The film is a must-see (available now on Netflix) that documents the transformative power of music on Alzheimers patients and serves as a beautiful reminder of musics innate ability to awake and attune us all to our true nature. Indeed, music has the power to heal us and to connect us to the deepest places within and to one another. Music can open our hearts and quiet our minds like no other medium. Music moves us and can stir our deepest emotions in an instant. Music and rhythm are in our blood and bones from the womb to the grave. Music has the ability to transcend time and space. Yes. Its all true and yet all of these descriptions are merely attempts at pointing towards something which is, in truth, a visceral experience, something indescribable, something beyond words. Weve all had a moment of being so deeply touched by a melody or a lyric, of finding ourselves unable to resist swaying or grooving along to a beat or rhythm, of feeling an undeniable sense of oneness and connection with others through a shared experience of music. The pure, simple and undeniable Truth is that MUSIC MAKES US FEEL GOOD. And as native to our being and existence as it is, we sometimes forget. Much in the same way that we can lose ourselves in the human experience and lose sight of our spiritual nature, we can often get caught up in the pursuit of all that stuff out there and forget that its all about a FEELING in here. And music is one of the most powerful and easily accessible ways of getting us there. So if youre reading this, I hope you will take a few minutes out of your day and go listen to your favourite song or one that fits your mood. Turn it up, allow yourself to really feel it and get into it. Let go and let the music move through you. Its such a simple thing and yet sometimes, it evades us. Im grateful for the reminder and wanted to spread the love. #Musicmakesusfeelgood #AliveInside ***For an incredibly moving and vulnerable take on her experience of the film and the healing power of music in her own life and the life of a closed loved one, check out my dear friend Jessica Indias blog at soulfullbyjess.wordpress/2014/10/20/alive-inside/
