We finished up giving Jack a medicated bath - his skin is in awful condition, and the only hair left is where he couldnt scratch or chew. He smells offensively ripe, and his whole body is inflamed from the raging allergic reaction and likely secondary infection. He has scabs and giant flakes of dry skin everywhere, to the point where the texture of his skin would be better described as a hide (think elephant, rhino etc.) He does not have mange - skin scrapings at the vet were negative for both Demodex and Sarcoptic mange. His feet are extremely inflamed and swollen, so he has difficulty walking and his back legs are in rough shape too - possible luxating patellas and/or a hip joint issue. He will be getting the best care possible, but for tonight he is as clean as we could get him, which is a start! - Nadine
