WHY I FEEL GREAT & PROUD BEIN A LEFT-HANDED PERSON: From my childhood, I had noticed that Nigerians & d world treats left-handed people in a disrespectful way by demonisin d act as unlucky, evil, clumsy & seen it as disrespectful in givin or receivin sometin wit left hand. Since i did not introduce myself into d act rather it was inborn; i tried 2 force myself into following wat d majority believed in & by so tried 2 metamorphos frm left-handed 2 right-handed person, but al my efforts 2 change d course of nature was fruitless. So i decided 2 always welkom any form of scolding frm elders weneva i mistakenly giv or accept anytin frm dem wit left hand. My philosophy eventually changed wen i entered high school, we were two left-handed persons in my class, i enjoyed our uniqueness & our outstandin performance in academics. @ an advanced stage i was motivated by wat i termed d uniqueness of left-handed pple 2 do some fact find & i discovered dat most left-handed pple seems to be more intelligent, more successful and more precise when shooting. I watched with excitement as two left-handed people – BILL CLINTON and GEORGE H. W. BUSH – contested the presidency of the United States. I learnt that the third top contender in that election, ROSS PEROT is also left-handed. I watched again as a left-handed CLINTON was challenged by a left-handed BOB DOLE of the Republican Party, who learnt to use the left hand after his right hand was paralysed by a World War II injury. Left-handed PEROT was also the third top contender in that election. A left-handed BARACK OBAMA and a left-handed JOHN McCAIN contested the 2008 American presidency. Today, the United Kingdom is governed by a left-handed Prime Minister: DAVID CAMERON. In 2007, a left-handed BABATUNDE FASHOLA became the Governor of Lagos State. And, in 2010, a left-handed NAMADI SAMBO emerged as Nigerian Vice President. I cannot forget the fire-power and precision of EMMANUEL AMUNIKE at the 1994 African Nations Cup, 1994 World Cup and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. His goals gave us the Nations Cup trophy and the 1996 Olympics football gold medal. I cant 4get d magic DIEGO MARADONA performed in Mexico ’86, with his left foot wich is forever etchin in d memory of futbal lovers. Also not forgetting the magic left foot of LIONEL MESSI of Argentina and Barcelona, let us also remember that the best player of the 2013 Under-17 World Cup was a left-footed KELECHI IHEANACHO of Nigeria, while the best player of the 2014 Championship of African Nations held in South Africa was Nigeria’s left-footed footballer, EJIKE UZOENYI.
