WITH HEAVY AND DETERMINED HEARTS, WE HAVE DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH THE SALUTE TO OLIM FAIR AS PLANNED Our hearts are broken by the tragedy that has befallen the families of Naftali Fraenkel z”l, Gil-ad Shaar z”l and Eyal Yifrah z”l. May their memories be for a blessing and may the families and loved ones be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. Even as we mourn with them, AACI and its partners in the Jerusalem Salute to Olim event have decided to go ahead with our program planned for this Thursday, July 3, 2014. Our reasons are many. The kidnapping and murder of these boys have succeeded in accentuating a unique sense of unity among Israelis and Jews of all stripes who came together during the 18-day search. One of the main focuses of this event is bringing together community members also, of all stripes, and so it seems fitting. We have also always been a nation that supports each other both in tragedy and in joy and carries on moving forward with purpose. We hope this event will offer support for olim who dont always have the same support system going through these hard times that native Israelis have. There will be opportunity to remember the boys at the event. Despite our sadness, we warmly invite you to join us this Thursday as we take the opportunity to celebrate you, the beloved olim of Israel, and the positive Zionist message we continue to spread.
