Walmart has announced it will discontinue offering health insurance plans for employees working less than 30 hours. While its not unusual for businesses to not cover part-time employees it highlights the problem with healthcare delivery in this country. If my calculations are correct this means approximately 26,000 people will be denied the opportunity to buy health insurance through a much less costly group plan. The cost of their medical care in many cases will be spread around to those who do have insurance coverage. Were crazy. Tell your legislator you want a universal single payer plan like most of the civilized world.
