Walt Disneys classic Sleeping Beauty released in 1959 closed a golden age of animated fairy tales for the Disney Studios; his most ambitious, shot in Technicolor and Technirama, and took 6 years to produce, it met with mixed reviews, and could not initially recoup its then astronomical cost, but through the decades, it did, and it is now considered a true masterpiece in animation, and a sterling example of the art form in its day and time; it has truly held the test of time. Let me digress, for this then little Cuban boy of 7, it was complete magic, I saw it in real time in Cubas premier resort of Varadero Beach, and I was mesmerized by the dazzling animation, the color and sheer sumptiousness of the story and film. In honor of this wonderful memory, I am posting the original poster in its initial release, a photo still of the movie showing its magnificense (with my three favorite characters from the film, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather), and the poster in Spanish as I saw it in my native Cuba. I saw it roughtly a year and a half before I left Cuba in exile, and it is still my favorite of his films.
