Want to Start a Business? Invest in Yourself First! One question I am often asked by would-be business owners is, “what business can I invest in that will succeed?” or Kodi bizinesi yogwira ndi iti? Most people think if only they started the right business, they will succeed. They think once armed with some cash, they can go into business and succeed. It does not work like that. You cannot succeed in business unless you first invest in yourself; you need to first learn what a business is, how it operates, how you can research the market, how to produce quality goods and provide acceptable services, how to deal with customers, how you can establish a business successfully, e.t.c. Unless you are ready to first spend on your own education in this area, I strongly advise against spending any of your money in business start-up attempts because you will fail and lose your money. It takes at least four years of learning, serious studying, taking tests and exams for a person to qualify for any degree. However, most people are not willing to spend enough time to learn about business and investments. Consequently, many start-up businesses fail to become profitable and sustainable. My advice is simple: Invest in yourself first. Get knowledge and understanding. Learn from people that have succeeded in the area of business and investment you are interested in. If you get knowledge and understanding, success is made sure. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. (Proverbs 4:5-7)
