Watching the news coverage of the grand jury verdict has moved me - TopicsExpress

Watching the news coverage of the grand jury verdict has moved me to put on my philosophers hat. A cross the country people are calling for ‘justice now’. Justice for who? Did the man Michael Brown assaulted receive justice? Did he deserved to have his store looted? Does the police officer that Michael Brown assaulted deserve to have his life and career altered forever? If Michael Brown had not died he would have been looking at time in prison with a high probability of spending most of his life in prison. He chose to rob the store, ignore all the placed officers instructions and instead to attack a police officer. What justice does he do serve? Many people in this country are victims of violent crimes. A disproportionate number of both the victims and perpetrators are people of color. Why? I think it is due to society destroying if the families here in the USA. We have taken pride and human worth from our young black men. It started with bringing blacks to this country as slaves. There was no consideration of families. Blacks were simply have bought and sold as commodities. Years of slavery conditioned these people to rely on the master for their food, shelter lodging, and all necessities of life. After being freed we found a way to keep these people enslaved. It was called “welfare”. We would provide food and shelter and lodging if they agreed to remain poor and that males over the age of 16 could live with family. Many of our people still live under this form of slavery. When are we going to learn that a handout does more harm than good? We do have problems within law enforcement. A police officer should not be able to justify murder by simply saying “they felt threatened”. More action needs to be taken if to remove bullies from our police to forces. Our cops need to more training. Their training should include if physical fitness and the use of a non-lethal force.
