Way to go Mr. Harper Hello-- The House of Representatives passed a short term budget today that defunds ObamaCare and keeps the federal government operating through December 15, 2013. I supported this bill because it protects Mississippians from ObamaCare’s harmful mandates and avoids a government shutdown. This debate now moves to the Senate -- the chamber where this conversation belongs. The House has done its job. It’s time for the Senate to stand up for the American people. Even more, the House has advanced over 40 bills that would defund, dismantle, and destroy ObamaCare. Seven of these attempts have been signed into law. As the speaker said yesterday, I hope that this proposal will be the eighth. But the White House has already signaled that the president would veto this bill, claiming that the resolution “advances a narrow ideological agenda.” Mr. President, with over half of the country still giving this far-reaching law unfavorable marks, the opposition to ObamaCare is hardly narrow. Let’s defund ObamaCare. Let’s keep the government open. And let’s tackle America’s spending and debt problem as we fight the next battle about our country’s economic future.
