We applaud you for authoring SB 1132, which would impose a moratorium on fracking and other dangerous well stimulation techniques. Fracking is a dire threat to Californias water and air, to California communities, and to the climate. Californias ongoing historic drought demonstrates the urgency of confronting climate change now, not allowing fossil fuel development to escalate the damage from climate change while consuming huge quantities of the available water, and potentially contaminating even more. Your bill would ensure that fracking does not move forward unless Californians and the climate are protected from harm. We pledge to work with you to pass this vitally important bill, and hope that your colleagues in the Legislature will join us in doing so.
