We are all aware of the continued overcrowding and tough choices that are being made at RAS currently. No one, no one is pleased that irresponsible owners, over breeding and an ever growing pet population and space constraints have again over taxed the efforts being made there. This is just my opinion and though we as a rule refrain from posts like these, I am making one. The attacking of other shelters and rescues along with the extremist bleeding heart approach in regard to the problems we are and do see solves nothing. It enrages and angers those who have an unrealistic perception of the depth of the pet population problem and irresponsible owners, does nothing in the way of proactive solutions and further fans the flames for them to take their anger out in unproductive ways. Instead of last minute anger and lashing out at other shelters and rescues the energy could and should be spent implementing further education regarding spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership to the population and demographic that is over breeding and dumping dogs, specifically in this instance at RAS, Pitbulls. Those who are wringing their hands and laying blame need to organize VIABLE options with RAS for alternative housing or any other such solution that could potentially ease the overcrowding we have been seeing consistently occur over a long holiday weekend. Implementation and organization of temporary solutions to this problem isnt going to stop euthanasia from occurring. It does have the potential to at least lessen the amount that are euthanized. My sincere apologies for the rant, but as one being attacked at this time along with others I and we support and work with on a daily basis who foster, transport, donate, attempt solutions and put in endless hours as MANY of us do, the extremist BS of libelous and slanderous attacks has me at my limit of patience. Many of those screaming the loudest arent stepping up to foster, educate or work within the confines of the problem or the law even temporarily at this time. Instead, they choose to attack other rescues and shelters with absolutely NO FACTUAL knowledge of what they do to alleviate the problems, to the best of their ability, that we are seeing. Many of the people, rescues, shelters and volunteers being attacked and lied about dont broadcast what they do behind the scenes that helps alleviate the need for many pets to be taken to the euthanasia room. Those attacking and lying the loudest are often the ones that do less than those they attack. Shame on them.
