We are reason seeking species, and if you believe that, then nothing without any explanation is aceptable to reason. Here we lean toward the basic principle of science of the 17th century “Principle of Sufficient Reason” the major work of Leibniz. Leibniz explains that explanation goes all the way up and all the way down. For every truth, there must be a reason why it is so and not otherwise; and for everything, there must be a reason for that thing’s existence. It DOES NOT sound silly as you mentioned, there must be an explanation whether we know or can find it or not! In my notes on “Mathematics of god and Arithmetic of nothingness-Zero” I see your second “question” differently. If ZERO (Sefr) is like an empty set and represents nothing and (number) one stands for something, can you explain how you get from nothing to something in the following manner: -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4,..... Mathematicians know if a number is “regular” the it cannot be reached via numbers below it. Number ONE is a regular number since it cannot be reached from below, all you have is zero (0) and the sum of zero zeros is still a zero! So you cannot get from NOTHING TO SOMETHING! Number 2 is also regular because it cannot be reached by adding up fewer than two numbers that are less than 2, so you cannot reach it from UNITY to PLURARITY! Notice that the other finite numbers DO NOT fit the bill! Number 3 is reached by adding one and two! How can you get from NOTHING to SOMETHIN and can this tell you IF there is a god, a CREATOR?! Leibniz looks at the “Infinite Series”. 1/(1-x) = 1+x+x2+x3+x4+ .....+ , plug in (-1) into the series and you get 1/2 =1-1+1-1+1-1+.. which gives you 1/2 = (1-1)+(1-1)+(1-1)+ ... or 1/2 = 0+0+0+0+0+... Did Leibniz discover the mystery of creation? Did “SOMETHING” came from “NOTHING”?
