We belong to a big ecosystem. That means none of us stand apart. If we think about this cosmically, we belong to a big universe in which we are a part. If you think about this spiritually,we are part of this oneness. Oneness means that there is no other. So if we consider this in the scheme of the way the way we treat the planet, which is a big ecosystem, of which we are a part, we harm ourselves when we harm it. We disrespect ourselves when we disrespect it. We ignore ourselves when we ignore it. As Shams of Tabriz, the sufi dervish said: The universe is one being. Everything and everyone is interconnected through an invisible web of stories. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are all in a silent conversation. Do no harm. Practice compassion. One man’s pain will hurt us all. One man’s joy will make everyone smile. Fall in love with the planet again and you just might fall back in love with yourself.
