We celebrate the 5th time All-Star and 2001 World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder, Luis Gonzalez. Gonzalez turns 47 today. He is born in Tampa Florida and plays his high school sports for the Dragons of Jefferson High in Tampa. He plays his college baseball at Southern Alabama. He is the Astros 4th round pick in 1988. Gonzo first professional team is the Auburn (NY) Astros in 1988. He breaks in with the Astros in 1990. Its during the 1995 season, he and Scott Seravis are traded to the Cubs for catcher Rick Wilkins. He returns to the Astros in 1997 has a free agent. 1998, he signs with the Tigers has a free agent. In 1999, he is traded to the D-Backs for Karim Garcia. In 1999, he leads the NL in hits (206) and named an All-Star for the 1st time. He is an All-Star again in 2001 and earns a ring when the D-Backs knock off the Yankees in the World Series. That season he has a career high 57 homeruns and 142 rbis. He is an All-Star again 2002,2003 and 2005. In 2007, the 39 year old, would sign with the Dodgers has a free agent. His final season would be 2008 with the Florida Marlins
