We had the most wonderful evening, I dont really know where to - TopicsExpress

We had the most wonderful evening, I dont really know where to start.. The boys were out last night, so it was just me and Lunes.. I have now idea how it happened.. But I couldnt be happier.. In general, she was just so loving, playful and interacting beautifully. We sat and cuddled up on the sofa, played TOGETHER and laughed lots and lots. But more so, my daughter, who cant and doesnt attempt feed herself, hasnt been able to for 15 months.. A child who usually takes 45mins to an hour to eat a meal, which mostly consists of the use of a high chair, iPad distraction & then chasing her around the house.. Fed HERSELF. She just went right on and did it. She sat still and used a FORK properly for the first time in her entire life. Not though any encouragement or training. She just decided she wanted to. I even have photographic evidence! See!!! Yes, shes watching Mickey, but so what.. This is progress. And if that wasnt miraculous enough, we went on our usual training walk and it all just came together. Mya walked independently the whole way. No hand holding once I was confident. She listened, took my instruction and had lots of fun. She looked, but didnt touch any cars.. Well ok one, right at the very beginning and she stopped because I asked her too. Mya usually runs her hands along the side of EVERY car parked up. She stared.. She wanted to, was itching in fact, but she resisted. She also didnt run off AT ALL. She walked calmly and beautifully. She didnt go in to the road once and she stood and waited at the end of each kerb for her reward. (A Disney figurine). The only slight hick up was a pile of gravel next to an empty trailer. She couldnt resist. But that is her favourite thing in the world. And it didnt end in a tantrum. I took a few videos, but I wont subject you to my patronising ABA voice!!! :/ Something has most definitely clicked. Then.. Oh yes theres more ladies and gents!! That little munchkin really blew me out of the water. She picked up Sonnys calculator, dialled and started chatting away. Hiya, Yeah, yes haha! She passed it to me to do the same and then wandered off babbling on it again. Such a beautiful moment. So emotional. Who said my child couldnt have fun. Who said she doesnt have an imagination. Shes amazing. Im missing her so much already. Really didnt want to go to work today. Cloud 9 in Autism land, so, so proud xx
