We are a local non profit that provides nutrition, fitness and wellness education to local elementary aged kids in our area. This run is a community awareness event and fundraiser for StarFit Kids. We have 3 age groups for runners: 5 and under, 6-9 years old, and 10-12. Each group has a different distance to run in 3 separate races on the same part of America the Beautiful Park (between the big spinning fountain area and the obelisks). The youngest group does a half lap, the second group does 1 lap and the oldest group does 2 laps. For the $10 entry fee: Each racer will run in the race and get a race number, a finishers ribbon, and a race bag filled with freebies. In addition we have many different community partners at our event, snacks, family activities and giveaways. Additionally, we have gotten great community baskets that can be bid on by individuals or a family (optional of course) (examples - spa basket, family basket, fitness basket, downtown basket, breakfast basket), and with the purchase of a "raffle style ticket" you have a chance to win a basket. This day is centered around showing kids that fitness and nutrition can be fun and fit into a family lifestyle. This is our 4th year of holding the event and it is more fun and better attended every year. We think it is a great value for $10 per child and is always a fun filled morning of activities. Just note, the event site does charge a small fee to complete the transaction.
