We kept this family safe through Thanksgiving BUT only because of the amazing generosity of one person . We can never thank that person enough but that is not what we want to happen . We want to ask more people to give just a small amount this time so this family stays safe through the Christmas and New Year period .and it doesnt mean one person has to give the bulk of what we need . Maybe then , with a New Year upon us we can all try and come up with some way that this family can get out of this and make a fresh new start . That is what we would all like to see happen for them I know . Both Tony and his brother are already very worried that they wont have a room for Christmas and New Year . Tony worries constantly how his learning disabled brother and 2 little dogs, one of which is very old and almost blind , would cope if they lost their room and ended up out on the street . They have spent 6 years before I started doing these fund raisers living part of each month in their car on the streets and part in a hotel room . At that time Tony was also caring for his elderly father too . It was when they had to spend one Christmas and New year without food in their car that I asked Tony if I could share his story online and try and make sure they were safe in a room the following Christmas . Tony was very reluctant at first and took a lot of persuading to let me do it . He eventualy agreed so long as I was careful about not giving their contact details or full names out because he didnt want more stress from it . He was also worried that the wrong thing being said to social services , or the wrong person seeing it and thinking his brother or dogs were being neglected could get them taken from him . That is why I do all the posting out etc and why only Tony s first name is used . Please take time to read what this family has been through and my explanation of why I do these fund raisers below . We get some people criticizing what we do and saying Tony takes advantage of me but that IS NOT THE CASE . I was the one wanting to do this for them . Tony is constantly trying to find alternatives and trying to not have to beg from everyone to hold onto their room , but can find nothing else that is suitable . This is truly the only thing keeping them safe and is the life line that keeps them from having to live and sleep out in the open . This terrifies Tony because he knows when they were in their car they could lock themselves in and he had a way to give his brother and dogs some element of safety . What is so frightening to him is the head gasket on his car engine blew and it had to be scrapped so they now have no car . That will mean he has nothing between them and anyone out there intent on doing god knows what to them . We all know the people living on the streets are very vulnerable and looked down on and that theres plenty out there who prey on the vulnerable . It absolutely terrifies him that if we cant help them hold onto their room he has no way of keeping his brother and dogs safe .. they mean the world to him and always come first .
