We landed at Shannon Airport after a 6 hour flight from Boston at 6 am this morning. Had a bit of a mix up about the car rental, and it took till after 8 to get the car. We arrived safely in Galway City before 10 am. Called the hotel to find out when our room would be ready, and they were putting a rush on it since the last guests just left . Then we got lost trying to find the parking garage, Galway City has terrible traffic and narrow medieval streets. The hotel is in the center of town on famous Eyre Square but has no private parking. Turns out the parking garage was about ten blocks away, and there was no place to pull up and unload at the hotel! At 11AM we were lugging our baggage across town to the hotel. It was with great relief that we made it up to our room and collapsed for a three hour nap. I got up, took a shower and felt human again. We spent the evening exploring the town and listening to the street musicians on every corner. Went to a little Italian café and had some good antipasta with cheeses and nice wine for an inexpensive meal. Tomorrow we are off on a day trip to Connemara. We will be visiting a place called Brigits Garden right out side Galway City on the way to Connemara, and taking a scenic drive along the coast.
