We now live in a world where so many people are offended by every little thing that is being said, done, and so much more. Words, actions, the smallest things. I really dont understand this. Maybe its because Im offensive. Maybe its because I dont find the smallest things to be offensive. Maybe I just dont understand. Why let something as simple as a word or a phrase effect your life so badly? I know I used to let this get to me, but I really dont anymore. And before anyone goes off in the comments and tells me that words can hurt, I know that they can. Believe me, I do. There were many times that people had told me that they wished that I had died when I got shot. That my brother didnt love me because I got shot. So many things to do with that. So many things to do with my weight. So many things to do with the smallest details of my own life. But I dont let them get to me. I know that some people arent emotionally strong or whatever you want to say, but that isnt a reason to get so ungodly offended that you need to go off go into an uncontrollable rage about it. The main reason that I bring this up is because one of my favorite YouTubers, JonTron, posted a tweet about a Playstation feature, Playstation Now, where he said this: Playstation Now is the most painfully retarded thing Ive seen in a while. WTF even. And so many people on Twitter are going off on him because of this. Yes, I know, Retarded is a bad word, but once again, its a word. Words DO evolve, and Im not looking to start up a Social Justice Warrior debate about why the word Retarded is a bad word. People sometimes CHOOSE to be more offended than they really have to be because of this kind of stuff. I saw one response where someone brought up the word Gay and how it has evolved over the years, and someone said Well, I dont like it when St8 people use the word Gay. I just dont seem to understand, maybe. I just dont get it. We can be offended and keep it to ourselves. So many people were attacking him because of this post, seeing as he later said Today I have been called things I didnt even know were things. I think its time we declare Tumblr a national threat. I just dont get why or how attacking someone because of a word they said is going to make you feel any better about your life because of one stupid word that someone said. Like I said, and I will state again: I know that words can be offensive. I know that they can hurt. But, seriously, come on. Sometimes, it just gets a little out of control on how Politically Correct the world is supposed to be nowadays. People do have the right to say whatever they want, whether or not it offends you. We all have our own words that make us uncomfortable, but you dont see me jumping the gun and freaking out on people because they say the word fat or retarded or whatever. I just really dont understand it.
