Although from Charlotte, North Carolina, every time she flies over to go to Hollywood she always stops by the Healthy Hair Bar in Claremont first to hang out with Rochelle Chappelle and get a touchup before her sound check. Aside from making young aspiring stars beautiful, it should be taken note that the Healthy Hair Bar is also quite health conscientious about what they use in the salon. Rochelle Chappelle, creator of the Healthy Hair Bar and Experienced Stylist, grew up in a salon world and was witness to her mother acquiring cancer from a toxic salon environment. As cosmetologists they are exposed to a lot of chemicals that are harmful to the body, especially when used over extended period of time. From that environment she’s learned what chemicals do, and what not to use. “It seems like after the Cancer, we’re all very careful about chemicals and what we put in our body,” said Alisa Castleberry, a worker at the Healthy Hair Bar. “She’s trying to change the way hair is done. Making the [salon] environment non-toxic, so we can all live as well as we want, without it degrading our health.” Alisa Castleberry is another other woman in Rochelle’s life who has survived cancer, breast cancer, at a young age. Now she works at the Healthy Hair Bar, as a testimony to the practices there. The Healthy Hair Bar is an Organic Salon, and doesn’t use products that contain toxic chemicals. Perhaps the most dangerous products they avoid are parabens, which have been linked to breast cancer. Although they are known for their wig services, as seen through their window, they are a full-service salon that offer many other services as well. One particular product that they attest can solve almost any hair issue, is California Flow. An organic product that replaces formulas that contain sodium hydroxides or formaldehydes.
