Wednesday Thoughts- September 24, 2014 Text: Psalm 119:15-17; Daniel 3:16-18 Song Lyrics: “The Anchor Holds” by Ray Boltz ……………………….. Between “The Works” from Papa Johns and my anxiety over Chad’s Oncologist’s appointment this morning at 9:15 I slept very little last night. I’m not yet sure why we have been placed on this journey set before us but I have had a glimpse here and there of some truths and life lessons that I personally needed to learn. For instance, we have barely rounded first base in this game and I already know in my heart that before I slide into home plate I will be a much wiser and more compassionate man. Two guarantees come to mind this morning. One is a bleep from a Ray Boltz classic entitled “The Anchor Holds”… The anchor holds Though the ship is battered The anchor holds Though the sails are torn I have fallen on my knees As I faced the raging sea The anchor holds In spite of the storm The second guarantee is that my family and I are in this thing together. Just like the boys approaching the fiery furnace in Daniel 3 we will not bow, we will not bend and we will not burn! Daniel 3:16-18 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” Finally this morning is a commitment that I am making and a prayer for my precious son Chad as well. The Psalmist writes in Psalm 119:15-17…………… I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. 16 I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. 17 Deal bountifully with Your servant, That I may live and keep Your word. Thank you all for your love for my family. Before this journey ends many lives will be encouraged and our God will be glorified!
