Weekend Observations - call out recognition In my travels for cricket over the weekend; Lakeside for the 2nd XI, Progress for the 4th XI, AK Line for the 1st XI and, ultimately, playing myself yesterday at Progress (unfortunate for my two boys who didnt see me this weekend), I would like to call out and recognise a few people. Again, as with last week, the following is not an extensive list of all and Im sure I have forgotten some people (not intended or deliberate). However, what I noticed through my travels of all things Falcon over the weekend: - thankyou to those who ventured to AK Line Reserve, Watsonia, to support the 1st XI which included Billy Lawson, Joffa, Mane man, Brango and Sri. I dont know if it is humanly possible to ask as many questions as Sri asked myself and Mitch in a 20 minute period; so, who is the best VSDCA cricketer never to play Premier 1st XI?. You can tell Sri is a sports journalist - thankyou to Janelle Lynch who co-ordinated afternoon tea at Lakeside on Saturday. Disappointingly, with the side being bowled out at 3pm and an early tea taken - Janelles hot food was not ready. Janelle couldnt have been any more disappointed in the Umpires decision to take an early tea break - thankyou to Ian Lynch who ran the bar at Lakeside late Saturday afternoon/early evening - thankyou to Liam Patrick who opened up Lakeside on Sunday morning for the VMCU Rep game - thankyou to Anthony Rosta and Tim English who packed up Lakeside and locked up (including putting covers away) Sunday evening following the VMCU game - thankyou to Lisa for co-ordinating the 4th XI afternoon tea on Saturday and to Darren James for showing up with pizzas. Amazing afternoon tea at the 4th XI. Just general amazing scenes at the 4th XI - thankyou to those who came down to support the 3rd XI yesterday including; Wilko, Javed, Cam, L-Train, Brock, Paco, Geoff Brewer, Mark Garland, Gary Manefield and, of particular note, KB and Jed who were in attendance all day Of course, the above does not call out and thank those who we just come to expect week after week, in formal capacities, with regards to curation, team management, Executive co-ordination of all things off-field, Coaching, etc. Well down to all those above, who I noticed and was left thinking; I should thank XXX for their efforts as those behaviours are what makes the club survive and prosper.
