Well, Facebook Im at it again, this time, for a much less admirable cause: (however, this was like a 6 month rant in the making). My fiancé and I typically like to put effort into more useful topics of discussion; however, Kay Jewelers has become an everyday topic in our conversation for the past 6 months. Although I wish I could say it has been due to their “friendly and knowledgeable staff” or the beautiful engagement ring my fiancé purchased from Kay Jewelers, it is for neither of these reasons. In fact, it is has been the absence of customer service, absence of knowledge, and the absence of a quality product that has become a topic of our daily conversation. Kay Jewelers has failed us repeatedly. To summarize an extremely long and agonizing process with this company is a disservice to how truly poor our experience has been. As it would literally take hours of typing to truly explain the disappointment, frustration, and embarrassment that we have felt as a result of their poor performance. The disappointment arose initially when we had to have my size 5 ring resized to a 4.25 in order to fit. At which time, we were informed that the store that ordered the ring ordered it in a size 7 and had already sized it down to a 5, and to size it down further, would mean that we, the customer, are assuming risk if the loose diamonds on the sides of the band fall out. This issue was remedied with much discussion and stress. Little did we know, that this issue was miniscule in comparison to the issue that would follow. Approximately six weeks later the size 5 that should have been ordered originally was shipped to the nearest store. My fiancé and I dropped off the ring we had in our possession to allow Kay Jewelers to switch out the center diamond in to the new band. One week later, I received a call that I could pick up the ring, of which I did. Two weeks later, my fiancé noticed that the center diamond did not appear to be the one that he had purchased. My fiancé and I returned to the store, at which time the store verified that the diamond was not our diamond/ was not a certified diamond. The store indicated that they had to locate our diamond. As this was in May, my fiancé and I still have not had our issue remedied. My fiancé continues to pay for a ring that is only partially the product he is purchasing. We have asked to return the ring for a full refund given our dissatisfaction with the company (wanted to part ties- never have to deal with the company again). At this point, we have had many unreturned calls, insulting remarks reminding us that “Kay Jewelers in the #1 Jewelry Store in America” and that “they have a team of the best lawyers”, not to mention, a continued response of “you are not getting your money back” (although we have been offered reimbursement of some of our payments). I am personally embarrassed that our lives have had to entail discussions of a material item. I am personally embarrassed that my fairy tale proposal has to be followed up with “but please never buy from Kay Jewelers”. I have decided to do what we all must do from time to time, share my story, for two reasons. 1) In hopes that another newly engaged couple will not go through this same experience. 2) To allow Kay Jewelers further honest feedback, in hopes that they, as the #1 jewelry store in America, will work harder to be more impressive to their customers…because I, for one, am truly disgusted. Kay Jewelers with Mazin Albert Friends, please like and share to prevent others from buying from this company.
