Went to go check this place out today. Its a haul for me to get out there but if youre in the area or live close, its worth it. Heres a quick review/reaction: 1) Lunch is a good deal at $13 for everything you see below. Many options but I went for the basic Urban Ramen and fried rice. 2) I was very surprised how thick the soup was. Its described appropriately but still, I didnt expect it. Looks like a consommé but not at all taste wise. But good, dont get me wrong. I think the spicy paste works well by dabbing it a little with each bite to help cut the thick soup. 3) Egg was incredible. It was the first time Ive see it done so well stateside. The spoon is not so much for aesthetics as much as a function of necessity. If you try to pick it up with your sticks, it will puncture for sure. 4) Fried rice was decent. A little heavy handed with the white pepper for my tastes but good. wok probably needs to be seasoned a bit more before the best flavors can be coaxed out of it. 5) Chashu was unconventional but I liked it. It was on the lean side but I thought it was still very good. 6) Noodles nothing to get super excited about but cooked well. And the style of noodles chosen well for the broth. Kind of a long write up I guess... But hey, if youre close or dont mind making the drive (Im in the South Bay of LA) its worth a trip out.
