Western Living is teaching us to be self centred particularly in the cities...Born Again people often suffer loneliness when hardships and challenges of life drive different members of the family to seek different means for survival. But love is what every human being desires. OUR ETERNAL COMPANION Paul Dhinakaran God sets the lonely in families, He leads forth the prisoners with singing (Psalm 68:6) Dearly beloved, The eternal God is our refuge. In this world, solitude is a persistent pain! No one can withstand the agony of being alone. Look at the way the Psalmist wails of his singular suffering: “Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted” (Psalm 25:16). He further says, “I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof” (Psalm 102:7). Some years ago, an old lady passed away in an old old-age home. When they were sorting out her possessions, they came upon her diary. Can you guess what the lady had scribbled in her dairy every day? On the New Year day she had written, “None came to visit me.” On the next day, she had remarked, “None has sent any letter to me.” The next day also, she had mentioned, “None came to look after me.” Making this same note of agony on all the 365 days of the year, she, perhaps, had pined away to death! Dear brothers and sisters! Sometimes, in life, we languish with a sense of isolation! Even in the ministry, despite the support of plenty of people, don’t we anguish ourselves with the thought: “Alas! I have to bear the burden of the ministry alone!” Our lamentation takes many hues: “Alas! I have no one to help me! I am not yet married though my age is advancing! There is no one to show concern for me! I am unable to educate myself for a profession! Though I labor hard for my family, the debt is crushing me! I am unable to bear this burden single-handedly! This is merely an illustration of how the sense of solitude numbs us! But even in this miserable condition, the Lord looks at us with concern! Genesis 2:18 demonstrates this concern: “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. Yes! God was concerned about Adam’s loneliness; therefore, He created Eve to be his companion. The Bible says, “God sets the lonely in families, He leads forth the prisoners with singing” (Psalm 68:6). Yes beloved! When our Lord finds us alone, His heart is moved with compassion for us! That is why He becomes our reliable Companion! He builds up our lives! He grants us a home and possessions! He shatters the feeling of solitude that ties us down! He gives us a suitable companion! Prayer: Loving Lord Jesus, You are my eternal Companion. I take refuge in You. Please surround me with Your presence and comfort me in my loneliness. Build up my life and be my refuge forever. In Your matchless name I pray, Amen. ----
