What a great first day of football! All of the hardwork put forth this summer is starting to show for the boys. While on a rather sad note we loose a couple of kids to the trend of specialization. While I respect some young guy for thinking of his future I cannot support a fellow coach who tells them they have quit one sport for another... especially when the athlete they are pursuading has the possibility of reaching a much higher level in football than they can in any other sport. Multiple sports teaches them the value of diversity and fosters the competitive spirit that drives all great athletes. You push a kid to early to be a one sport kid you limit there potential to grow both physically and mentally. My mom made me play football when I was younger because I told my coach I would, I thank her everyday for it.
