What a horrible day. 10 min after we left the surgeons office, Rob said his chest was hurting and couldnt breath good. We drove into an emergency room. The doctor did x- rays and said he might have water in his right lung. I asked my sister (nurse) if that was dangerous and she flipped out saying he die in the matter of 10 min. My mom, dad, Robs mom, our close friends, we all panicked. The feeling of losing a person you love soooooo much is terrifying. About an hour later, Dr. came back with cat scan results saying he had pneumonia. Apparently, when the anesthesiologist gave him nerve block, the needle hit a nerve that controls diaphragm. Part of the diaphragm stopped working (my understanding is that it went numb), which allowed stomach content to get into his lungs. That caused the pneumonia. When we arrived to the ER, his lips were purple. Oxygen level was 83. Normal is around 100. I am glad we didnt ignore the symptoms. From the ER, we were sent to Banner Desert hospital where we will be staying for a night or two. Scary, scary day!!!
