What a whirlwind these past two weeks have been. We are happy to - TopicsExpress

What a whirlwind these past two weeks have been. We are happy to report that our baby girl is home where she belongs as of yesterday! Exhausted is an understatement, she has no energy whatsoever. She desperately needs to catch up on her sleep, and we can only hope that her medications and not her disease are making her this groggy. We want our old, happy Teagan back, and we hope that slowly she will recover from her ICU stay. Not much has been going on with her platelets. We have an appointment with the Doc tomorrow to check her blood levels and platelets, and we pray that the levels have risen. Over the past few days, her platelets and blood counts continue to decrease. The doctor believes Teagan has a blood cancer known as histiocytic sarcoma, which is basically eating up/destroying all of her blood cells. The low platelets is either a result of the cancer, or a totally separate immune response. Her labs tomorrow should shed more light on this issue. Surgery is way too risky and expensive, so for now, that is out of the question. The good news is that Teagan is not in any pain. All we can do at this point is spoil our girl and lavish her with love and attention, and hope for a miracle or a small ounce of positive news. We are very unsure how much longer we have with her. This unfortunate event has been discouraging and devastating to say the least as Teagan is a part of our family, and losing her will be like losing a chunk of our hearts. This diagnosis came out of the blue, and we are not yet ready to lose our girl. All we can do is hope and pray for the best! Below are some pics from the past few days. Today, Teagan got to spend the day with her awesome grandmom, Tina, and her dog cousin Tux! She loves to be around her family
