What an amazing journey and effort by so many. On Monday and Tuesday of this week we delivered 522 stuffed backpacks to the kids at Centro Educativo in San Marcos Puerto Plata, DR and essentials for the teachers and principal to have a successful school year. On their first day of school all the kids were greeted with their backpack and asked for the first time in their lives Que vas a ser cuando seas grande What will you be when you grow up? The future doctors, engineers, baseball players and teachers of the world wrote out their responses and took a school photo with their desired profession which we printed and displayed at the school. The kids were so grateful and excited and gave us a pinky prometo to study hard all year with their new tools. Each backpack included: 2 notebooks, 1 coloring book, a ruler, colored pencils, 5 pencils, 2 pens, folder, glue stick, 3 erasers, pencil sharpener, and calculator. All 28 teachers received: 1 binder with filler paper and a notebook along with 4 curriculum books and teaching DVDs for each grade Other items donated: 6 ink carts, 100 packs of paper, 60 packs of construction paper, 10 fans, 10 cork boards, 3 sets of speakers, 75 recorders(floutas), 10 drums, 10 maracas, 3 maps, a dry erase board, a projector, a printer, a laminator and paper, a paper cutter, contact paper, paint, paint brushes, tons of art supplies, a globe, markers, good behavior stickers, highlighters, chalk, staplers, tape, pens, pencils and more! #Bagitforward #Grateful #TheBackPackProject
