What do you know about the smart grid? If you say not that much, you should really take the time to look it up. One big issue with it is privacy. If you say that you have nothing to hide and it isnt a big deal, then you are still pretty ignorant about how details can be used. Your information is being gathered to be sold to the highest bidder and can be used for a myriad of intentions. (As this article states, selling your information will likely be more lucrative than selling electricity). Why do you think it is so valuable and how come you arent making the profit? Knowledge is power. Regardless, you do have something to hide. The list of ways information can be used is only limited by the imagination. With enough information a person can be easily targeted to be manipulated. Think about military tactics and how a big part of warfare is gathering information. If you give your information out, you leave yourself open to be victimized. Plus, did you know that there are so many federal, state and local laws and ordinances that most Americans have broken a law? We are geared to continue to make more laws. Laws have no leniency or mercy. They do not adapt to the situation and they are meant to be enforced through punitive measures. If your information profiles you as a criminal even without a crime, you are likely to be treated as such. Remember all those risk factors, they are now coming into play with this technology.
