What do you think, Patriots? Can we send this viral? Yes, its really happening: Open Letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel Regarding the Entry of Illegal Immigrants Into the U.S. Military By Former Congressional AZ02 Candidate and Command CMSgt (Ret) Chuck Wooten 9/26/2014 As the Commander-In-Chief and Secretary of Defense, you should not have to be reminded of your responsibilities to the American people regarding the national security/national defense of our country. In light of your recent decision to allow illegal immigrants (regardless of the number) to enlist or otherwise serve in a military uniform is the highest form of dereliction of duty. Since the end of the Vietnam War (yes, I called it a war), America has been supremely blessed with the highest-caliber, all-volunteer force to answer our nation’s call to service. Over time and with growing, global realities, the nature of our military has changed—but the steadfast constant in our incredible national defense posture has been the individual serviceman and woman. We deliberately set the bar high for entry into the military and it has paid manifold dividends. To allow a person who is in our country illegally (regardless of circumstance or excuse) to wear our uniform and work in positions of authority is absolutely egregious. Is the next item on your radicalization of the military agenda to deep-six the oath of enlistment where a recruit has to commit to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”? I’d like to help you out with this. By virtue of their illegal entry into the U.S., they are both a foreign and domestic enemy! We’re suddenly going to entrust our national security to someone who, under law cannot themselves be given a security clearance? Are we going to change that requirement, too? The illegal immigration status in and of itself disqualifies a potential recruit during the routine background check required of everyone seeking to enter the military. You say you’re only looking for a very few, select people to serve if they have unique language or medical skills. Did the Defense Language Institute go out of business? We’ve been training linguists for many decades…linguists who require top security clearances, by the way. Also, medical skill? We are actively seeking to place our troops medical care into the hands of those with no regard for American laws? If we can’t trust them to become proper citizens, can we trust them in life-and-death medical situations? Our all-volunteer force is incredibly selective, as it should be. Entry into the military is not granted to just anyone who can “fog a mirror.” We deny access to potential recruits for a lot of reasons, but being a law-breaker is certainly at the top of the list of disqualifiers. If we say no to a young person because of a minor, youthful indiscretion that resulted in a conviction, we certainly need to say no to someone who intentionally thumbed his or her nose at our immigration law. What about that that high school senior who has excessive tattoos or piercings? How about the ones who got in over their heads with credit card debt? We disqualify those young patriots who genuinely want to serve. My point is this: Just like everything else you’ve done in your tenure to weaken our military, whether it was to use the DoD as a sequestration pawn, fire senior leaders for simply disagreeing with you, degrading our troops quality of life or prematurely withdrawing from Iraq. We The People are onto you. We know that in your zeal to grant amnesty to tens of millions of criminals, you intend to begin with what appears to be a minor “exception.” This is an advancement of your DREAMers amnesty…we know you are already planning a ramp-up of this issue where more and more will be allowed in uniform. Mr. President, Secretary Hagel, you have failed your country. If any person, anywhere in the world wants to serve in the best, most lethal military on the planet, they MUST qualify by our standards. Your standards do not reflect the will and the needs of the people of the United States. Stop it now. Sincerely, Chuck Wooten Command Chief Master Sergeant (Ret), USAF
